Terrific writeup, Jenny! I’m curious how (and how well) you estimated the number of calendars to print year #1. I’ve seen a shelter overestimate and end up trying to sell a bunch late in the year – at-cost.

Hi Dave! This is really where the pre-sales come in handy. It helps gauge how much interest there is and how many you need to order. Most everyone that had their pet in the calendar ordered more than their free one. One person ordered 20 to give as gifts! If I remember, the first year we ordered 150 and ran out. The second year we ordered 200. You’ll know better after the first year how many you’ll need and based on pre-sales. The rescue I worked with gave calendars as donor gifts also. “If you donate $20, you’ll receive a free calendar”… that type of promotion. I hope this helped a little!
